Walmart’s Carmelo Anthony doll a dead ringer for Jeremy Lin

By on December 16, 2014

Wal-Mart doesn't know Carmelo Anthony from Jeremy Lin.WALMART.COM Wal-Mart doesn’t know Carmelo Anthony from Jeremy Lin.

Kids who had that Carmelo Anthony plush toy on their wish list better hope Santa doesn’t do his shopping at Walmart.

The retailer’s description of the doll didn’t really fit since “Anthony Carmelo,” as they called it, was really Jeremy Lin in his blue No. 17 Knicks jersey – aka “The Good Old Days” in the Lin household.

Though the doll is no longer available it still shows up in a search of the company’s website. They do have the authentic Melo doll.

Maybe it was an honest mistake. Maybe they were getting a little creative and hoping they could unload some old merch – Lin hasn’t called the Garden home since 2012 – on some sisters or grandmas (or dads or uncles) who don’t know the difference between Carmelo Anthony and his alter ego, Anthony Carmelo.

Anyone hoping to catch a glimpse of the actual Lin at the Garden again, they will have to wait until February 1, when the Lakers play the Knicks at MSG.
